‘Treasure Island’ is the latest musical serving from Azealia Banks ahead of her highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘Fantasea II: The Second Wave’

Initially due for release on Friday 13th July 2018, Azealia Banks has decided to avoid the superstitions surrounding the so-called ‘unlucky’ day and release her anticipating single, ‘Treasure Island’ a week ahead of schedule. After a snippet of the track made the rounds on Twitter a while ago, wigs were flying left right and centre and even completely vapourated from one’s scalp, leaving fans snatched.

‘Treasure Island’ is a follow-up to lead single, ‘Anna Wintour’ which was released in April 2018. Both singles are set to feature on Banks’ upcoming sophomore album, ‘Fantasea II: The Second Wave’ due for a 2018 release. ‘Anna Wintour’ and ‘Treasure Island’ are the first singles to be released under Entertainment One, her new label after a $1,000,000 record deal.

Whilst we’re still waiting for ‘Fantasea II: The Second Wave’, that isn’t to say Banks hasn’t been working hard since her last album which was her debut titled, ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’ released in November 2014. The ‘Anna Wintour’ rapper released a ‘Slay-Z’ mixtape in the summer of 2016, under her ‘CHAOS & GLORY RECORDINGS’ label. ‘Slay-Z’ received moderate critical acclaim upon release and featured the single, ‘The Big Big Beat’.

In 2017, Banks followed-up with the singles, ‘Chi Chi’ and ‘Escapades’, both of which are set to feature on her upcoming sophomore album. The tracklist for ‘Fantasea II: The Second Wave’ has been known for some time now, with Banks unveiling collaborations with the likes of Busta Rhymes and Grimes upon the album consisting of 22 tracks.

In December 2017, Azealia Banks starred as Coco Ford in the musical-drama film, ‘Love Beats Rhymes’. It was directed by RZA and stars Banks as a 25 year old aspiring rapper from New York City, going by the name of Coco Ford. In March 2018, Banks released another promotional single, ‘Movin’ On Up‘, which was supposed to be a promotional single for the film however that didn’t happen.

On July 6th 2018, Azealia Banks uploaded the official audio clip of ‘Treasure Island’ just to YouTube, releasing the single to all musical streaming and purchasing services subsequently.
